Buddy and Taco

The inspiration for Buddy and Taco Travel the USA goes back to 2008 when Buddy took a solo flight from Alabama all the way to Colorado. Buddy was a lab mix rescued by my brother in Auburn, Alabama, who then became our dad’s hilarious and loyal companion during a time he needed it most.
After spending the summer of 2008 with me, he needed to return home to my dad in Colorado. He boarded the plane and went on his own adventure! Buddy loved to play in the snow of the Rockies and the sand of the Gulf Coast, and he made many trips in between. He was playful, silly, and always hungry.
Taco was a spunky French bulldog who brought so much fun and laughter to our home for a wonderful ten years. Truly a unique personality, Taco was adored by everyone he met. He lived with us in New Orleans and Florida and traveled with us to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and the beaches of the Gulf Coast and California.
When he crossed the rainbow bridge in June 2025, we knew we wanted him to continue bringing joy and smiles into the world. We quickly got to work to memorialize the dogs that still mean so much to us. We teamed up Buddy and Taco for a great adventure, even though they lived in different times.
The process of making this book was challenging but so much fun in many ways, and I am excited to finally announce its completion. I sincerely hope you and your family enjoy Buddy and Taco Travel the USA!
